Journal 1: How Tragic

Updated: Mar 11, 2019

I think that the greatest tragedy, at least in American history, is 9/11. Even though this event occurred nineteen years ago, Americans still feels the lasting impacts. 9/11 was a terrorist attack against the United States targeting the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington D.C. A few thousand people died in a span of a day. Also, this was the first attack against Americans on U.S. soil. Terrifying images and the sorrows of this event created a lasted feeling that is still felt today. Even though this marks as one of the most tragic events in American history, 9/11 has changed national security making this nation safer. For example, TSA and other laws were put into effect to ensure that an event like 9/11 would not happen again. Also, the U.S. once again showed themselves as a dominating power by killing the people responsible for the events of 9/11. Although 9/11 was a horrific event that still has a lasting effect today, America has changed security measured throughout the world. The world had followed the actions made by the United States which has prevented some terrorist attacks. In American history, this event is its greatest tragedy, but there is a positive that came out of a very melancholic situation.
