Lady Macbeth:

In My Head- Ariana Grande

"Falling, falling, but I thought that you would need me

Falling, falling, needed something to believe in, oh

I thought that you were the one

But it was all in my head

It was all in my head"

This song, In My Head, by Ariana Grande represents the internal struggles with Lady Macbeth's guilty conscience. Hallucinations and insomnia is one of the side effects from not being able to sleep. She goes mentally insane with nobody to help her. The paranoia and internal struggles from committing a murder creates instability in Lady Macbeth's mind. Her thoughts and guilt are in her head. The pressure gets too much by holding onto this secret for a long time. Her guilty conscience caused her to commit suicide.

Listen Before I Go- Billie Eilish

"Sorry can't save me now

Sorry I don't know how

Sorry there's no way out (sorry)

But down,

Hmm, down"

Listen Before I Go elaborates on the hardships that the artist faced and how there seemed to have been nobody to help her escape them. Lady Macbeth was mentally ill, but nobody from that time could understand the illness or help her. During Shakespeare's time, doctors were unaware of the severity of mental illness and thought it was incurable. Without help, Lady Macbeth progressively got worse relating to the phases, "Sorry there's no way out but down".

Caught in the Fire- Bazzi

"We're caught in the fire

And it burns right through the bones

We're down to the wire

No it won't leave us alone

Oh it haunts our days

And the fear won't fade

Feeling swallowed by the smoke"

Caught in the Fire represents the situations Lady Macbeth was in because of one poor and greedy decision. Killing Duncan was because of greed, ambition, and the idea of power. Lady Macbeth allowed her greediness to impact her actions. This song also expands on the emotions of feeling stuck in an unfortunate situation: "Oh it haunts our days and the fear won't fade, feeling swallowed by the smoke". She regrets her decision because of the hardships that followed.

My Blood- Ellie Goulding

"Surrounded and up against the wall

I'll shred 'em all and go with you

When choices end, you must defend

I'll grab my bat"

Lady Macbeth was placed in a difficult situation where her guilty conscience caused her to relive and feel guilty about the murders committed. The song, My Blood, by Ellie Goulding represented Lady Macbeth fighting a battle between the truth and her actions. Despite her best efforts, Lady Macbeth was unable to defend herself from her inner demon, her mind. Finally, the title relates to her character because blood was a common reminder of the gruesome deeds committed.
